Elgin police are searching for a convicted murderer and armed robber who escaped from Elgin Mental Health Center — a northwest suburban mental health facility Monday night.
Tobert Walls, a convicted murderer and armed robber, escaped from the Forensic Unit of the Elgin Mental Health Center at 750 S. State St. [MAP/SAT] about 8 p.m. Monday.
Walls should be considered dangerous. Walls was convicted of first-degree murder in the 1991 gang-related slaying of Jesse Fox, 14, on Chicago’s South Side. He was released from prison in July 2007 and was soon arrested (within a month) for armed robbery. He was being held at the Elgin facility after being found unfit to stand trial on the armed robbery charges.
Walls is a 31-year-old black male, 5-foot-9 and 172 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a scar on his forehead.
He has the following tatoos:
Chest: “RIP OTIS/LOVE MOM,”
Forearm: a man wearing a hood
Right upper arm : “TW” with a heart and a banner
Tobert Walls last known address was on the 9000 block of Colfax Avenue in Chicago [MAP/SAT].
Police have charged Lisa Mack, 38, of the 8000 block of South Dante Avenue, Chicago [MAP/SAT], with aiding the escape of a prisoner in this case.
