Patrick Ford, of 1043 W. Grace St., Apt. 2, was denied bond as he appeared in Violence Court Tuesday afternoon and was charged with the fatal stabbing and strangulation of
Dana E. Mangi, 25, of the 600 block of North Carlyle Lane in Arlington Heights.
Dana Mangi, a Prospect High School graduate was found dead about 5:30 a.m. Sunday at a Wrigleyville apartment at 1000 W. Grace St [MAP/SAT]. Patrick Ford was found on the scene apparently with self-inflicted cut wounds. Ford and Mangi were acquaintances and Ford allegedly confessed to killing Mangi. Dana Mangi was enrolled at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota for this fall semester.
A series of assaults in the Lakeview neighborhood is thought to be unrelated to this crime.
Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Friday at the Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Hwy. in Arlington Heights. A 10 a.m. Mass is scheduled Friday at St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines.
UPDATE: A 150-car funeral procession traveled with police escort from the Arlington Heights Police Department from St. James Church to All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines Friday morning. Part of the travel passed through storm-ravaged Mount Prospect where police officers — who were already managing busy intersections with failed stoplights — gave a respectful clear pass to Dana’s procession.
