Dennis G. Pearce, 37, of Elwood, Ill., was killed after his Jeep was hit by another car and rolled over about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon just south of Woodfield Shopping Mall.
Pearce was driving south on West Frontage Road when his Jeep Wrangler was struck by a vehicle traveling on Higgins Road [MAP/SAT] and driven by Israel Valadez. Dennis Pearce was extricated from his Jeep by Schaumburg Fire Department and was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Valadez was also transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Eastbound Higgins was closed to traffic on Martingale Road. Traffic on Golf Road was blocked from turning south onto West Frontage Road. Backups plagued the entire Woodfield Shopping Mall area in the area of Meacham, Golf, Higgins, Route 53 and the frontage roads for much of the afternoon as police accident investigations are prolonged when a fatality occurs.
