Des Plaines police responded about 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2024 to a report of retail theft of alcohol at the Jewel Osco, 1500 South Lee Street in Des Plaines.
Two female adults were arrested after they fled the store with stolen merchandise and crashed.
Two suspects, Ashley Vaughn, age 27, of Lansing, Illinois and Catherine Perkins, age 44, of Lansing, Illinois entered the Jewel-Osco store and placed their own personal bag in the shopping cart. Allegedly, they placed liquor valued over $200 into the bag before exiting the last point of sale without paying for the items.
The subjects then fled in a vehicle and eventually crashed nearby.
They were taken into custody without further incident, and charged with retail theft, according to the Des Plaines Police Department.
Catherine Perkins has a scheduled court date at Cook County Circuit Court Rolling Meadows Room 203 on September 23, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.
Initially no court hearing scheduled for Ashley Vaughn was discovered for the Jewel-Osco incident, although a recent court date is scheduled for an ongoing case in the Cook County Circuit Court in Markham.
