Mundelein police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:10 PM Friday to a house explosion and fire 916 Killarney Pass Drive Mundelein, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that house exploded and was fully engulfed on fire (More Photos/Video: CHICAGOFIREMAPS.NET …).
Two explosions were heard just before noon as far away as Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Firefighters on the scene reported a two-story single-family home was heavily involved with fire. Firefighters in defensive mode were attacking the fire with a deck gun on top of first fire engine on the scene.
No searches were possible as of 12:35 p.m. The gas company was requested to the scene. A neighbor also reported seeing the resident at the affected house working with a propane tank shortly before the explosion.
Later Friday afternoon one person was reported killed in the blast and fire. Another person was transported Advocate Condell Medical Center (not confirmed) with burn injuries.
