The Village’s Public Works Department has activated its Emergency Snow & Ice Control Plan in preparation of the large snow accumulations predicted by the National Weather Service for Tuesday afternoon, February 1 through Wednesday afternoon, February 2.
The Department will have 36 trucks on the streets 24 hours a day until the snow has been cleared. The Public Works Department plows will be making multiple passes to move snow off of 230 miles of streets. Residents should anticipate that when clearing roadways, snow could be pushed into driveways several times during the storm.
The Public Works Department does not plow State and County Roads within the Village. Note the following …

Residents are reminded to not park on Village streets after two inches of snow accumulation. Per ordinance, parking on Village streets is prohibited after two inches of snow accumulation until the road is completely cleared of snow. Also, the Village prohibits overnight parking on any street from 2 a.m. – 5 a.m. without prior permission being issued by the Police Department. No new overnight parking permits will be issued by the Police Department until after the snow storm is over and the snow has been removed.
Snow cleared from driveways should not be deposited on the street or on sidewalks. Avoid hazardous conditions and violations of village ordinance.
Public Works crews will also clear sidewalks around public parking lots, on selected pedestrian routes leading to the Downtown train station, and around Village-owned buildings. Additionally, employees will be salting and plowing Village-owned parking lots and the commuter parking lots.
